For unfinished content or code that isn't ready to be published on an article yet, the usual approach on Fandom is to use a sandbox or another test page. As mentioned above, you can also use a page or subpage in your own user space for this purpose and move the finished content to the appropriate page once it's ready.
Communities can also create shared sandbox or test pages if they want to provide a place where contributors can experiment without affecting regular articles. This is the approach used on some Fandom communities for users who need a space to test edits.
Because wiki pages and user subpages can already be used to create these kinds of workspaces, a separate draft system isn't necessary in order to work on content privately from the article itself.

I’d like the idea but the issue is that it would raise conflicting edit counts and confusion. Would rather just keep WIP stuff on personal sandbox pages.
